“…… and use Busse, King, and Stanford to close out that game.”
YIKES!! What’s the probability that we would get the “good” version of all three of those guys on the same day? Scares me just thinking g about it.
Thanks for the logic behind the thought. I think that you are right on about patience being the key when attacking our most of our pitchers. Wait for the mistake and then hammer it. I guess you can say that about any pitcher, but seems like off speed mistakes travel a lot further …..
It’s a double elim tourney. We play UNCW and then the winner of 1 vs 4 if we win. If we were to win that one we could close it out in 3. If we get in The losers bracket it can take up to 5 games to come thru and win. Worrying about the supers at this point is a fools game, imho
Well, we have the pitching depth to come out of the losers bracket this year, imho. What I mean is it seems to me we have a significant number of guys that aren’t our 3 weekend starters who have gotten plenty of innings and are capable if not always reliable. We go 12 deep (if you count...
Bottom line for me is I won’t be upset if they leave us out. We had our opportunity to play ourselves in and didn’t. We played ourselves to the bubble. If we make it, I will hope for the best and continue to pull for the jackets. I can see us winning a game or two in the regionals if we have...
Looking at those metrics, it’s hard to see how they are not done. And they aren’t even in the right conference.
while I agree that it’s hard to judge motivation, it seems like a lock that UVA will not be throwing any of their top arms today.
What’s the chances that “the committee” looks at a Tech victory over UVA today and decides “well, they beat a team that really didn’t have any reason to win” to get to .500 overall in the conference. He we are gonna stoke conspiracy theories about why who got in and who didn’t, might this be a...
FSU has already won the game, if they acted like everyone else and found a way not to finish it. They are doing the exact opposite and going above and beyond to finish it. That separates them from a lot of other teams in how they handle these situations …… including us.
I gotta say, I am impressed with linkJarret or whoever is in charge of FSU baseball. They have had multiple opportunities to “dodge” playing out the games, but they are making every effort to complete the series. That’s the way things are supposed to work.
Is this the same as basketball CDS “….. when I get my guys up in here ….” W.r.t. the pitching recruits being the former pitching coaches guys?
Not quite the same, but maybe similar?
100% agree on throwing strikes. My mental well being (as it is affected by tech baseball, lol) is in a much better place this year than it was last, mainly b/c we throw (more) strikes.
I listened to a bit of the D1 podcast (most recent, weekend 14) and they discussed exactly what you’re talking about for some of the lesser known conferences. I only listened to the first 19 minutes. I don’t think they went through all the conferences.
Yeah, earlier in the year there were multiple discussions about several of our guys being “pitch to contact guys” and how that was what you needed in college ball. I never bought into that conversation. Pitch to contact equates to wait for a mistake. We’ve seen it with our starters and...
